Bhavya completed her B.A. LL.B (Criminal Hons) from KIIT University in 2017. After that she joined a law firm as an associate advocate in New Delhi, where she worked closely with the standing counsel of State of Rajasthan, Supreme Court of India. She cleared her All India Bar Examination in 2017 and enrolled herself to the Bar Council of Delhi. In 2018, she went for her masters and pursued her LL.M in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice from the University of Edinburgh wherein she gained interest in sexual offending and the law. Prior to her arrival at Jindal Global University, she was working with Advocate Arundhati Katju, Supreme Court of India.

Bhavya is particularly interested in exploring the tension between the rights of sex workers and criminalisation of activities related to prostitution in India. She has broad interests within the fields of Criminal law theory, substantive criminal law, criminal justice, global crimes, gender, sexuality and law, data protection and data privacy. Among other interests, she is passionate about queer rights activism and photography. She has also been awarded the Time’s women’s Drive (2019) award for raising awareness of LGBTQ+ rights.
